Use Social Media Responsibly

Even naysayers cannot deny the power of social media. It allows users to reach out to businesses as well as individuals, and this capability makes social media one of the most powerful tools for network marketing. Given its global outreach, inappropriate use of social media can lead to major problems. Just as it can make you, it can also break you.

Loss of reputation and accusations of harassment or unwanted solicitation can plague your network marketing business. Because social media platforms make money from advertisers and application developers who want user information to be public, maintaining your privacy is important. Diligence is the key to privacy, and it’s up to you to subscribe to platform updates and to check your settings regularly. Use social media responsibly to communicate and drum up business, but make sure you choose when to allow your private information to be viewed.

It is important to remember that first and foremost, network marketing is a people business based on relationships. There is nothing that will build your business further and faster than good ol’ fashioned face-to-face, eye-to-eye, belly-to-belly connections. Social media is a tool you can use to establish a connection; however, the trust and relationships in which network marketing thrives are built in a more personal and meaningful way.

Using social media to pique interest and share insights is a great starting place. However, when social media is used to “close sales” or “close enrollments,” there are policies and laws that govern and control those activities and you could be putting your business at risk.

Here are some specific tips for using Facebook to build your LifePharm Global Network Business:

Facebook has become a challenge with the reduced visibility of “Pages.” That said, it’s still a place where you can connect with many, so you shouldn’t abandon it entirely. On your Facebook page, talk about current events (like the weather or sporting events, your most recent vacation, etc.)—topics that people want to discuss and engage with, links to content related to what you have to offer, company promotions, and more. If you’re sharing through your Page, you can be a bit more business specific.

If you share through your Profile, you need to be a bit less direct. In this case, talk about your business as it applies to you. For example, talk about how excited you are that people have joined your team or earned a rank advancement, or that you’ve achieved the incentive trip, or how much fun you had at your last event. But do it without “the ask”: asking people to spend money, try product, or sign up to be an IBO. Posts on your Profile are meant to pique interest and share information, not ask for a sale or a signature on an agreement.
